Since 2025 I have spend time with a number of bassoons at A=392hz. I’ve felt that, with some adjustments (usually narrowing the finished reed), this model can work well. On some 392 models I’ve cut the blade as short as 28mm and re-scrape (which you would have to do yourself), but others are better suited to the 31mm blade I aim for.
If you are looking for a reed with a more ‘brilliant’ sound, or if you struggle with the B2 in the tenor register, then the B1 shape may be better suited to your instrument.
Players of the Wietfeld by Bonair will find the B2 at 66mm as the reed which best suits their instrument from my offerings.
